Mouthbreeders

A male jawfish is seen with eggs in his mouth in the Philippines. After mating, the female jawfish gives the eggs to the male. The fish are known as mouthbreeders.

Mouthbrooding or mouthbreeding, also known as oral incubation and buccal incubation, is the care given by some groups of animals to their offspring by holding them in the mouth of the parent for extended periods of time. Paternal mouthbrooders are species where the male looks after the eggs.
